War Machine"Iron Man 2" star Don Cheadle has ruled out the idea of staring in a "War Machine" spin-off film featuring Jim Rhodes.

When asked about the possibility of War Machine going solo in the latest issue of Wizard Magazine (via the Coventry Telegraph), Cheadle replied, "People have asked, but no one [in authority] has mentioned it as something that's happening. Hopefully, if this one does well, there'll be another ['Iron Man' movie] with the same people. But there won't be a ['War Machine'] spin-off."

Iron Man 2The hotly anticipated "Iron Man 2" may only be three months away from theaters, but Robert Downey Jr. is already looking ahead to "The Avengers" as a culmination of the first four years of movies from Marvel Studios.

"It's the pinnacle, but only if it's done in the smartest and best and most creatively sound way possible," Downey told SFX Magazine, (via ComicBookMovie.com).

"And I'm not saying we can't get there. I'm just saying it would be better to get there and not stay on schedule than to get everyone what they were hoping for in terms of a release date but not do it correctly. And by correctly, I mean my way," laughed Downey. Read more...

Iron Man 2Iron Man already has some powerful allies in War Machine and Nick Fury, but his latest compatriots bring a whole new meaning to "solid as a rock." Apparently, the Armored Avenger is teaming up with AC/DC.

Marvel Entertainment announced plans today to join forces with Columbia Records in featuring the music of AC/DC in "Iron Man 2," director Jon Favreau's upcoming sequel to Marvel Studios' 2008 film. Columbia Records will also release an album called "AC/DC: Iron Man 2" on Monday, April 19, containing 15 classic songs from the band selected from ten of their studio albums.

A new video for "Shoot To Thrill" also debuted online, integrating concert footage from a recent Buenos Aires show with scenes from "Iron Man 2." Read more...

Iron Man 2Paramount has released a new image from "Iron Man 2" featuring Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), looking as intense as ever, behind the wheel during what looks to be the Monaco Grand Prix scene.

If you've watched the "Iron Man 2" trailer, you know that this is likely to be the same scene in which Stark comes face-to-whip with Russian former criminal Ivan "Whiplash" Vanko (played by Mickey Rourke). And while his car takes the brunt of the attack, we'll need to wait until "Iron Man 2" hits theaters on May 7 to know how exactly Stark makes it out of the encounter.

In April of last year, it was announced that actress Kate Mara was joining the cast of "Iron Man 2," but details beyond that initial revelation were entirely up in the air. Speculation ran rampant that she'd play an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. alongside Samuel L. Jackson's role of Nick Fury or perhaps even Bethany Cabe, a girlfriend and ally of Tony Stark's in the comic books.

With the cat still in the bag regarding Mara's role, MTV News couldn't help but ask the actress about her specific involvement in the "Iron Man" sequel during an interview at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend. According to the actress, rumors that she'll play Bethany Cabe are entirely untrue. Read more...

Iron Man 2 toysFrom the moment fans caught wind that the War Machine suit would appear in "Iron Man 2," there's been a lot of anticipation for armored conflict — or better yet — an armored team-up between Tony Stark and James Rhodes. So even while the "Iron Man 2" trailer does show the heroes bonding in battle against shadowy antagonists, the exact nature of their battle was a mystery until this week's toy reveal.

According to Diamond Select Toys, Iron Man and War Machine will be facing down a variety of pilotless assault drones, possibly constructed by Tony Stark's corporate rival Justin Hammer. This would rule out any sort of Stark Tech training exercise and suggest the team is facing down a serious threat.

Although the drones are partially visible in the official "Iron Man 2" trailer, Diamond's new line of "Iron Man 2" Minimate toys give fans a first look at the machines up close. Read more...

Fin Fang FoomFin Fang Foom — the classic dragon-like monster created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby — will make an appearance in “Iron Man 2”, according to artist Adi Granov.

“This was my design for Fin Fang Foom for the ‘Iron Man Viva Las Vegas’ book I was doing with Jon Favreau,” explained Granov in a recent post on Super Robot Mayhem. “But this image in particular was done for [“Iron Man 2”] and used as a billboard in one of the scenes where Iron Man flies past it. It's very quick, but Jon wanted to have a kind of a cool easter egg in there.”

Clark GreggS.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson might have received the cold shoulder from Tony Stark in "Iron Man," but he'll get at least two more chances to earn a warm reception from Marvel movie audiences when he returns in "Iron Man 2" and "Thor."

Played by Clark Gregg, Agent Coulson will return for both the "Iron Man" sequel and Kenneth Branagh's "Thor," according to Variety. The return of Gregg's character only further confirms the presence of S.H.I.E.L.D. throughout the overarching Marvel movie narrative — a common line likely to culminate in the superhero team-up film "The Avengers."

As the May 7 premiere of "Iron Man 2" looms ever larger, it looks like the Marvel hero's adventure will be even bigger than originally anticipated. Yes, Iron Man is headed to IMAX.

Iron Man 2

In an official statement released earlier today, IMAX Corporation, Marvel Entertainment and Paramount Pictures announced that "Iron Man 2" will have a simultaneous release in digital IMAX alongside its wide release May 7. That means a much grander view of all the action when an armored-up Tony Stark and War Machine take on Whiplash, Justin Hammer, and, well... we're not entirely sure where Black Widow's allegiances are at this point.

But you get the idea. Read more...

Iron Man 2EDITOR'S NOTE: With "Iron Man 2" just a few months away from hitting theaters, MTV News contacted War Machine co-creator Bob Layton to discuss the character's upcoming debut on the big screen. The conversation covered a wide range of subjects that we're rolling out this week in a four-part series — concluding with Layton's thoughts on some "Iron Man 2" casting rumors and what might be in store for "Iron Man 3."

As one of the definitive “Iron Man” creative teams, it’s not surprising that several concepts from Bob Layton and David Michelinie’s “Iron Man” run will be prominently featured in the upcoming “Iron Man 2” While Justin Hammer's presence (as played by Sam Rockwell) has long been confirmed, Layton was recently able to address the rumor that Kate Mara was cast as Bethany Cabe in the movie.
