After James Crosby, the next banker for the chop is…..
So farewell, then, Sir James Crosby, who ends his career with only a few million quid and a knighthood to console him. As Iain Martin observes, it's hard not to see the hand of Brown in both the fact and the timing of this decision.
But Sir James may not be alone. Glen Moreno can't have enjoyed PMQs either. Mr Moreno, you may recall, is the acting chairman of UK Financial Investments (UKFI), which manages the government's shares in Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group.
He also featured on the front of the Sunday Times this week, a report that was raised in the Commons by the Tories' Angela Watkinson, who wondered whether Mr Moreno was quite the right man for the job.
The question left the PM — already badly mauled by David Cameron — looking like he'd just suffered a blow to the head. Eventually, he managed an answer: "He is acting chairman, he has not been appointed as full chairman."
Taxi for Mr Moreno.
