Final Fantasy XIII

Square Enix has released a new trailer for "Final Fantasy XIII" which features the song "My Hands" by Leona Lewis. The footage offers mostly pre-rendered cutscenes, but about halfway through there's a good chunk of gameplay thrown in for good measure. It's also using the English language voice actors, so it's a good opportunity to familiarize yourself with the voices that'll absorb your life for several dozen hours. You can watch the trailer after the break:

Mark Hamill has been making the rounds in video games lately. First was his brilliant revival of The Joker in "Batman: Arkham Asylum," and just last week he appeared as a bastard of a demon in "Darksiders: Wrath of War." You may think that Luke Skywalker may just be taking video game gigs to pay the bills, but the truth is that he's also quite the gamer himself. Check out the video up top, where Hamill dishes on his first video game experience.

When I first came up with the idea of the "Big Buck Challenge," I had a dream of bringing the most random collection of celebrities onto a single high score board. Earlier this week we had Snooki of "Jersey Shore" take the challenge, and today: Willem Dafoe. Um...mission accomplished?

Dafoe is not a gamer, but his intensity has been well-displayed in just about every role he's played, and he definitely brings that to his first time playing "Big Buck Safari." Check out the video up top and behold his crouched, down-the-sight style.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi has rocketed to fame in recent weeks, thanks to her extraordinarily popular turn on MTV's "Jersey Shore." She recently made the rounds in the MTV newsroom, and, quite honestly, I couldn't resist giving her a go at "Big Buck Safari." The above video is her round which was not exactly exemplary, but at least she was enthusiastic!

It's partially corporate synergy, but it's more because I find them super entertaining to watch. During the VGAs this year, we spent some time with Snooki and J-Woww of "Jersey Shore" fame and asked them about their favorite video games (natch). J-Woww seemed initially flummoxed, but rallied with her love of "Mario Kart" on some Nintendo system when she was like a kid.

Snooki, as always, stole the show, proudly proclaiming her skills in "Rock Band."

"I used to play the drums so I'm sick on it. Expert status!"

Expert status, indeed.

The Bravery recently performed at Spike's Video Game Awards. Before the show we made sure to ask them what sort of gaming they do on tour, as well as what their first experiences with video games were. Check the video up top!

We have a new leader in the on-going "Big Buck Safari" tournament in the office. You may recall some of the past participants, but it seems that being a villain on "The Hills" gives you an edge when it comes to shooting digital animals in the face, as Spencer Pratt has taken the top score with 5,144 in a round.

Lego Halo

Before you freak out and think that Traveller's Tales is hard at work on an sometimes-rumored "LEGO Halo" game, this is really just a fan-made 25-minute short set in the "Halo" universe...in LEGO. But, if the below trailer is any indication, this is definitely a short that'll be well worth your less-than-half-an-hour. Check it out below.

Brian Michael Bendis is one of the biggest comic book writers in the business, so it made sense that Microsoft Game Studios would tap him to work on "Marvel Universe Online." Unfortunately the Marvel aspect of the game hit a wall in 2008 when Microsoft pulled out and Cryptic Studios, the game's developer, moved on to make the game with the "Champions" license instead, leaving Bendis out in the cold...to work on a dozen or so other projects.

When I first came up with the idea for MTV's Big Buck Challenge, I can't say I imagined that we'd get a winner of "Project Runway" to complete. And yet I've been proven wrong. Christian Siriano was in the MTV newsroom the other day and was more than willing to take a shot at the high score list. The above video has all the gory details. Enjoy!
