Fresh from the rural onslaught on post offices which will see 7 close in my rural area the Government is turning its gunsights towards rural schools. Flying in the face of past reassuring noises that they would not be harmed the Government has engineered murder by proxy.
Starving shire local authorities of cash and piling on extra financially burdensome responsibilities on councils mean that many are looking for ways of remaining within budgets. The Government have threatened those who increase council tax way beyond inflation with capping. Cuts of existing services are seen as the only route.
What stinks is that when the Government are asked about the closure of these smaller rural schools the Government look the other way , and even worse fully put the blame at the Councils who they state make the decisions on these matters. It stinks. Balls should have the balls to protect these schools. I know who he can ask, not a million miles away from him, for the cash!
