Louise Bagshawe was born in 1971 in London. The family moved to the country when she was seven. Louise attended local Catholic schools and went to Oxford in 1989, taking her degree in English with a special emphasis on early English literature - and a bit of Old Norse! She was Secretary of the Oxford Union, and won Young Poet of the Year in when she was 18. After Oxford, Louise became a popular fiction novelist, signing her first book deal on her 22nd birthday. She has since published a string of bestsellers.
Louise's Experience
Corby and East Northamptonshire selected Louise by Open Primary in October 2006. This was Louise's first attempt at standing for the party, but she has extensive experience as an activist, having joined the Young Conservatives at 14 and been a Tory activist since 1997, with experience working both local and national election campaigns. Her first campaign was for her mother Daphne, who stood for East Sussex County Council in 1997, taking her seat off a Liberal Democrat with the largest swing in the South East. Louise has served as an Association Officer and a primary school Governor as well as being involved with several charities.
Louise says "Margaret Thatcher inspired me as I grew up, and she still does. I feel very fortunate to be standing in Corby and East Northants, where our family is making its home. The constituency is a little mirror of England, with industrial and fast-improving Corby on the one hand, and the country villages of East Northamptonshire on the other, whilst we also include medium sized towns like Irthlingborough and Raunds that are regenerating fast. Our local election results show that David Cameron's message resonates in the East Midlands, and we are looking forward to getting Labour out at the General Election - whenever it is called."
Louise Bagshawe is married to Anthony LoCicero and they have three children, including a newborn baby boy. As a young mum, and busy writer and campaigner, Louise says she doesn't get much time off, but when she does she enjoys reading books. Pre-children, Louise enjoyed travelling and says she has seen much of the world "but that's all over now!".
