In the third of our series detailing what happened to the original 100 members of the party's so-called priority list of candidates, here are the 27 - of whom 13 are men and 14 are women - who have been selected for seats which are Conservative targets. All swing calculations are based on the notional results of the 2005 election as if fought on the new boundaries (as calculated by Professors Rallings and Thrasher of the University of Plymouth).
(On Monday we listed the 27 who are no longer seeking a Westminster seat and yesterday we listed the 18 who have been selected to stand in Conservative held seats.) Louise Bagshawe The best-selling author - not to mention regular contributor to the CentreRight blog - was selected in October 2006 for Corby in Northamptonshire. She needs a swing of 1.6% to unseat Labour's Phil Hope, who has a majority of 1,517.
Gavin Barwell Croydon councillor and political consultant Gavin was selected in Feburary 2008 for Croydon Central, in the wake of sitting MP Andrew Pelling's decision to stand down. After boundary changes, Labour start with a notional majority of 328, meaning that Gavin requires a swing of 0.4% to take the seat.
Angie Bray A member of the London Assembly until last year's election, Angie was selected in October 2006 for the newly-drawn Ealing Central & Acton constituency. Labour start with a notional majority of 839, meaning that Angie requires a swing of 1.1% to take the seat.
Steve Brine Formerly the party's area campaign director for Hampshire, Steve was selected in November 2006 for Winchester,
where he has served a deputy chairman (political) of the local
Conservative association. Sitting Lib Dem MP Mark Oaten is standing
down, and Steve needs a swing of 6.4% to gain the redrawn seat.
David Bull The TV doctor was selected in December 2006 to fight Brighton Pavilion, where sitting Labour MP David Lepper is standing down. After relatively minor boundary changes, David needs a swing of 6.6% to gain the seat.
Mark Coote The former teacher and two-time candidate for Hastings & Rye was selected in November 2006 for Cheltenham, the town in which he grew up. Boundary changes mean that the sitting Lib Dem MP, Martin Horwood, would be ousted on a swing of 0.3%.
Jane Ellison Four-time parliamentary candidate (twice in Barnsley East, the 2000 Tottenham by-election and Pendle in 2005) Jane was selected in September 2006 for Battersea. After minor boundary changes, sitting Labour MP Martin Linton would be ousted on a swing of 0.4%.
Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones The self-styled "Black Farmer" was selected in June 2006 to stand in the newly-created Wiltshire constituency of Chippenham,
which draws on three existing seats held by Conservative MPs. However,
it is on paper a notionally Lib Dem held seat, meaning that Wilfred
requires a swing of 2.4% to gain it.
Hannah Foster (née Parker) The former national chairman of Conservative Future, Hannah was selected in March 2007 for Exeter. After minor boundary changes, Hannah needs a swing of 8.1% to gain the seat from Labour MP Ben Bradshaw.
David Gold A former political secretary to William Hague and candidate for Brighton Pavilion in 2001, David was selected in July 2006 for Eltham in south east London. Sitting Labour MP Clive Efford will be ousted on a swing of 3.8%, after boundary changes.
Zac Goldsmith
The environmenalist son of the late Sir James Goldsmith and co-chairman
of the Conservative Party's Quality of Life Policy Group was selected
in March 2007 for Richmond Park. He requires a swing of 3.6% to gain the seat from Lib Dem MP Susan Kramer.
Andrew Griffiths Having stood in Dudley North in 2001, Andrew - currently chief of staff to Eric Pickles - was selected in November 2006 for Burton in Staffordshire, where sitting Labour MP Janet Dean is standing down. Andrew requires a swing of 2.4% to gain the seat after minor boundary changes.
Maria Hutchings The campaigner for special needs children and carers was selected in September 2007 for Eastleigh, which is currently held for the Lib Dems by Chris Huhne. Maria requires a swing of 0.6% to oust him.
Margot James Having contested Holbon & St Pancras in 2005, businesswoman and party vice-chairman Margot was selected in December 2006 for Stourbridge in the West Midlands. She needs a swing of 1.5% after minor boundary changes to gain the seat from sitting Labour MP Lynda Waltho.
Brandon Lewis After standing in Sherwood in 2001 and later serving as leader of Brentwood council, Brandon was selected in November 2006 for Great Yarmouth. Sitting Labour MP Anthony D Wright will be ousted on a swing of 3.7%.
Paul Maynard Former candidate in Twickenham and adviser to Liam Fox, Paul was selected in December 2006 to fight the redrawn Blackpool North & Cleveleys constituency. Paul requires a swing of 4.2% to gain the seat from sitting Labour MP Joan Humble.
Wendy Morton Having fought Newcastle-upon-Tyne Central in 2005, Wendy was selected in December 2006 for Tynemouth, the Tories' top target in the North East. She requires a swing of 5.8% after minor boundary changes to gain the seat from sitting Labour MP Alan Campbell.
Mark Pawsey After fighting Nuneaton in 2005, Mark was selected in January 2007 for Rugby,
where he had been a borough councillor since 2002. After extensive
boundary changes (the sitting Tory MP for Rugby & Kenilworth will
fight the new Kenilworth & Southam seat) Mark effectively finds himself requiring
a swing of 2.6% to gain the seat from Labour.
Andrew Percy Having fought Ed Balls in Normanton in 2005, Andrew, a supply teacher and former aide to David Davis, was selected in November 2006 for Brigg & Goole. He requires a swing of 3.9% after minor boundary changes to gain the seat from sitting Labour MP Ian Cawsey.
Caroline Righton The journalist, author, chef and management consultant was selected for the newly-drawn St. Austell & Newquay constituency in December 2006. The seat comprises parts of three existing Lib Dem held seats and Caroline needs a notional swing of 6.2% to win this seat, which is also notionally Lib Dem held.
Julie Rook Businesswoman and Dover councillor Julie was selected in December 2008 for Wolverhampton North East where sitting Labour MP Ken Purchase is retiring. After minor boundary changes, Julie requires a swing of 12.6% to gain the seat.
Amber Rudd After fighting Liverpool Garston in 2005, Amber was selected in December 2006 for the eminently more winnable Hastings & Rye. She requires a swing of 1.3% to gain the seat from sitting Labour MP Michael Jabez Foster.
Anna Soubry Having stood in Gedling in 2005, Anna was selected in July 2006 for nearby Nottinghamshire seat of Broxtowe. After minor boundary changes, she requires a swing of 2.2% to gain the seat from sitting Labour MP Nick Palmer.
Andrew Stephenson Insurance consultant Andrew, who is a former Macclesfield councillor and ex-chairman of Tatton Conservatives, was chosen to fight the Lancashire seat of Pendle in September 2006. He needs a swing of 2.7% after minor boundary changes to take the seat from sitting Labour MP Gordon Prentice.
Philippa Stroud The director of the Centre for Social Justice, Philippa was selected in January 2007 for Sutton & Cheam. After a very minor boundary change, she will require a swing of 3.1% to gain the seat from sitting Lib Dem MP Paul Burstow.
Heather Wheeler After fighting Coventry Sotuh at both the 2001 and 2005 elections, Heather was selected in November 2006 to fight her local seat of South Derbyshire, where she is Tory group leader on the council. After boundary changes, she needs a swing of 2.7% to gain the seat, where sitting Labour MP Mark Todd is standing down.
Susan Williams - Leader of Trafford council since 2004 and candidate in Wythenshawe and Sale East in 2001, Susan was selected in December 2006 to stand in Bolton West. Sitting Labour MP Ruth Kelly is standing down and, after boundary changes, Susan requires a swing of 6.0% to gain the seat.
