Connecticut Polar Bears Holiday Girls Hockey Tournament
Three thousand five hundred female ice hockey players from all over the U.S. and Canada were projected to Connecticut for the nation’s largest youth ice hockey tournament (girls or boys), the Greater Hartford Convention & Visitors Bureau (GHCVB), said. From Sunday through Wednesday, Dec. 30, the Connecticut Polar Bears hosted its “25th Annual Holiday Tournament” at 13 different ice rinks around the state.
The invitational tournament featured 208 hockey teams with players, ages 8 to 20. There were close to 500 games during 3½ days from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., with as many as 17 games being played at any one time.
