About Emma

Emma was born and brought up in Stroud, Gloucestershire and was educated at her local grammar school, Stroud Girls High School. Emma then graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Law and went on to work as a Legal Clerk in a law firm.

Having been an activist for the Party from a young age, Emma has always been passionate about politics. After working in Law, Emma decided to become more involved in Politics, and has been working for the Conservative Party in the East Midlands Region for some 8 years, first as Press Officer for the East Midlands Conservative MEPs, then as Political Advisor to Roger Helmer MEP in the European Parliament in Brussels where she gained first hand experience of the legislative process in action.
 
From 2008 until elected in June 2009 Emma worked for the Rugby Football Union as their Government Relations Executive working with both MPs and MEPs to promote the sport on a local, national and international stage. 
 
Emma is now one of five elected MEPs for the East Midlands region. Since elected Emma has been appointed Conservative Spokesman and Coordinator on the Culture and Education and Sport Committee in the European Parliament, as well as being a member of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee and International Development Committee.

Outside of work Emma’s interests include walking, the countryside and photography. Emma also a keen sports fan and rugby follower and captained the Parliament’s Touch Rugby team! Emma also enjoys kayaking and skiing, but politics is her passion and most of the time she is keeping up to date with current affairs or supporting Party events up and down the region.
 
Emma is also a supporter for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and has raised money with her family in memory of her mother who died of the disease. Emma has also completed three High Peak Hikes with Conservative Candidate Andrew Bingham to raise awareness for Breakthrough and local charities.
