Welcome to the CLF Homepage
Friday, 05 May 2006

The forum aims to promote debate on civil liberties and human rights within the Conservative Party and the centre-right in British politics. It’s been set up because civil liberty issues have moved from the fringes of political debate to the mainstream, and we believe that this debate is too precious to be left to the Left. Conservatives need to produce their own thinking on this subject.

The purpose of the Conservative Liberty Forum is to

  • Encourage and promote debate on civil liberties issues from all sides of the Conservative Party
  • Publish articles on relevant themes by MPs, Party members and experts not affiliated to the Party
  • Organise events at Conservative Party conferences and other Party events
  • Produce material for constituency associations

We want to get as many Conservatives involved in this debate as possible. If you would like to write for the CLF or get involved, we’d like very much like to hear from you.

We will also aim to commission timely articles on civil liberties themes. We will publish these articles on our website as well as producing hard copies to be sent to people.
Through the website we will maintain a database of internet articles relating to Civil Liberties issues, that would be useful to refer back to or use for research. We also will be hosting mailing lists which can be used for discussions, or announcements. Those mailing lists will be online very shortly.
