John Glen works in Accenture's in-house think tank. He co-ordinates Accenture's participation in the World Economic Forum and leads thought leadership projects on globalisation and sustainability.
John was the Conservative candidate in Plymouth Devonport at the 2001 General Election and is now on the Priority List of Candidates seeking a seat for the next General Election. Between 2000 and 2001 John worked for William Hague as Head of the Political Section in Conservative Central Office assisting with the briefing for Prime Ministers' Question Time. Between 2004 and 2006 John was full time Deputy Director and then Director of the Conservative Research Department under Michael Howard and David Cameron during which time he set up the secretariat for the Conservative Party's Policy Review Groups. John is an active member of the Centre for Policy Studies and particularly interested in Education policy. He has an interest in Foreign Affairs and has travelled to Uganda, South Africa and the Maldives as a policy advisor for the Westminster Foundation for Democracy
Prior to his time in politics, John worked for seven years in strategy consulting, at the international consulting firm Accenture. Whilst at Accenture (1997-2004) he worked in the oil and gas industries and worked in the private office of the International Chairman in London. He also worked as a Researcher to Michael Bates MP (now Lord Bates) and Gary Streeter MP 1996-7.
John was educated at King Edwards School Bath where he was Head Boy before reading Modern History at Oxford University. He served his fellow students as JCR President in 1995 and was active in student welfare issues. John was awarded an MBA from Cambridge University in 2003 (where he was elected one of the two MBA Class representative).
John is married to Emma and divides his time between Henley and Westminster. In his spare time he is actively involved in his church, he is a Patron of Mansfield College, Oxford and he also sits as a Justice of the Peace in Westminster. John loves spending time with his family in Oxfordshire.
