Robert Beltrand, 46, of 210 Pine St., faces a charge of drinking while operating a motor vehicle. Manchester police spotted him drinking a beer with his car running in the parking lot of The Mills apartments Saturday, according to a police report.
St. Paul's main office identified him as an assistant coach for the varsity football team. Calls to the high school's president, Cary Dupont, were not immediately returned Thursday.

Yes, it is the law, and yes the cop was doing his job. So no he shouldnt be fired. But thats a bit of a stickler. Everyone knows not everything is done by the book 100% of the time, there are exceptions to the rules. And in my opinion when you see a disabled person, whom i know, and i can say he is one of the nicest people in the world, there should be exceptions. Its not like he could have easily gotten out of his car and gone inside for a beer, it takes him 20 min to get out of his car by himself. He was not going anywhere, he was just sitting there having a beer, and for whatever reason the cop decided to go after him.
