Investigators have been reviewing video clips of the weekend dance and fight that preceded the fatal stabbing of University of Connecticut football cornerback Jasper Howard.

People who were at the dance came forward in response to a request from UConn police, who are investigating the stabbings of Howard and another student with state police, said UConn Chief Robert S. Hudd in an e-mailed update to the UConn community Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators have made "significant progress" in the case, Hudd stated, but they would like to hear from more people. Police know there are more video images out there, and they would like to see them.

"In response to our previous request, a number of people have contacted UConn police already and forwarded images and other video taken on that night. It is known that other video and images exist that need to be reviewed," Hudd wrote.

Anyone with video or photos taken inside or outside the Student Union Saturday night and early Sunday is asked to submit them to investigators for review now, the update states.

"If you were there, and you recall now that you may have witnessed something that may have been related to the stabbings, investigators want to speak with you," it states.

Witnesses may contact task force investigators at the University of Connecticut Police Department at 860-486-4800 or by using the tip line at 860-486-4444. The task force also may be contacted by e-mail at CrimeAlerts@uconn.edu.

About 300 people spilled out of the Student Union ballroom shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday when a fire alarm sounded. There was some commotion, one witness told The Courant, after which Howard, a junior, was stabbed in the stomach. Brian Parker, a redshirt freshman who is academically ineligible to play, also was stabbed but survived.
