Boston College junior cornerback DeLeon Gause usually wears No. 9, but he will wear No. 6 when BC plays at Notre Dame on Saturday.
Gause is a Miami native who played against Howard in high school and later became friends with him, according to a press release from BC.
"I talked with another guy who played with [Howard], a cornerback at Clemson, Chris Chancellor. It was on his heart to [wear Jasper's No. 6] and I thought of anything that I could do. I felt like I had to do something," Gause said in the release.

Chancellor from Clemson was granted permission to wear #6 on Saturday also...
hey dez, this is an incredibly classy move for a BC kid. Then i realized he wasnt from mass, maybe there is a chance he knows how to drive like a normal human being too.... yeah i said it
MC-DC...Couple of comments here...You have done a very commendable job the last several days. (As usual) I am sure like the coaching staff and the team you could use a day and a half nap. Thanks for all the coverage.
This a wonderful gesture by Mr. Gause. How ironic that Jazz may be the man that begins the thaw in the relationship between UCONN and BC! That and DeLeon is also a corner and only has to turn his shirt upside down! Thank you DG...
