A Memory From A Teammate

Junior safety Kijuan Dabney shared his first memory with Jasper Howard.

"Jazz was my first roommate when I got here. I came up here two weeks later than everybody in my freshman recruiting class [due to NCAA clearinghouse issues] and Jazz, basically, he stayed up in the middle of the night waiting for me to get in because I flew a late flight and got in at about 1 o'clock in the morning. I just remembered a little boy with long dreadlocks and red eyes answering the door, and I'm like, 'Man, who they got me rooming with?' That's when I knew he was different. But immediately, Jazz asked me, because I had no covers or nothing - he asked me, 'You need a pillow? A blanket? You good?' And of course with my pride, I'm like, 'I'm all right. I'm all right.' But I was freezing that night, but basically, I told him I was all right. Everybody was close to Jazz."
