  1. Michael Hartley -Brewer was the Labour candidate here in 1979, who lost to the former Policeman John Blackburn.Does any one know if he is related to the Sunday Express columnist Julia Hartley -Brewer?

  2. Good to see the BNP give thanks to Chris Kelly senior for his financing of the St Georges march.

‘20,000 People March in Largest St George’s Day March in Black Country

“This is absolutely fantastic; I’ve never seen anything like it.” This one quote from a young mother said it all, as members of Team Black Country BNP took part in a 20,000-strong St George’s Day march in Sandwell, West Midlands today.

With them were esteemed guests party chairman Nick Griffin, and deputy chairman Simon Darby. The team’s promise of a non-political celebration was duly honoured and no BNP material, badges, or leaflets were present.

BNP representatives from far and wide attended the function from Wales, Bristol and the South West, Coventry, Birmingham and London, all of whom had given up their Sunday to be there and support the simple, but much maligned act of being English.

Amongst the 20,000-strong crowd were elderly people with various medals who were greeted by thousands of marchers. Children sported English flag face paint, and families ambled along in a glorious day of typical English civility, making a lie of the anti-English threats from the local Labour regime who drafted in a heavy policy presence at great expense “for fear of trouble.” There was, of course, none at all, in stark contrast to the Notting Hill Carnival immigrant crime fest in London.

With all the propaganda, expense and ridiculous over-the-top police activity, the event will be seen by many as a victory for a dignified, but pride-filled people, determined not to surrender to threats of intimidation, withdrawal of funding, and media smears and outright lies.

On behalf of the people of the Black Country, the BNP thanks the Stone Cross Saint George’s Day Committee and a local businessman who funded what was a record breaker in the history of the event.

  3. Dr (Lord) John Gilbert (MP for Dudley 1970-74, then Dudley South 1974-97) was on Newsnight this week, discussing Trident replacement with Nicholas Soames (who seems to favour a cheaper option – as do I).
He returned to government in 1997, again as a Defence Minister, from the Lords.

    I always rather liked him.

  4. What are Jim Knight’s chances of winning here? I noticed he increased his majority here (he was one of the very few Labour MP’s that increased their majority).

I met him two years ago adn he’s a really nice guy. I hope he survives here.

  6. Sorry, I posted in the wrong section.

  7. It’s interesting in how many of these seats the Cons vote has failed to even climb back up the the level reached in the 1997 wipeout election. I knew this was the case in Merseyside and Lancs but it seems to be true in over half of the target seats.
