I don’t think the Tories had any councillors in Basildon New Town until 1991 (except the County Councils in 1977) but I’d be interested to know if that is true of 1976,
I recall in the 1992 locals, the Tories won in every ward.
Labour still had seats, because some of the Labour councillors were not up for election that year.
Fantastic night.
But Tories won nothing in 1994 and 1995.
David Amess got a bit excited at the 1992 local election count “we’ve won seats…we’ve won seats we’ve never….We’ve won every single seat.”
