Nets, Pistons, Hornets still interested in Davis

The waiting game could be paying off for Celtics restricted free agent forward Glen Davis. Or not. Several teams are interested in Davis, but realize the Celtics will match any reasonable offer - likely in the range of $4 million to the midrange exception. The Pistons, Nets, and Hornets are monitoring Davis.

Nets really need him but the Pistons and Hornets are stacked on his position.

Detroit is stacked with bodies, but are they any good?

True. Pistons lost the guy that can hit jumpers in MCDyess and Rasheed.

Detroit have brought in some big men but they are questionable. Davis could be a fit there.

I like the Hornets connection but I doubt they spend the money. The Nets need to sign someone but they probably wont.

Why? That's all I can say...WHY?

July 27, 2009  09:53 AM ET

big baby is a good role player but 5-6 mill a year......absurd!!!!

From HoopsWorld; Glen Davis, Yi in Sign-and-Trade?

Alex confirmed that he had been hearing the same rumor as Justin from a different source; that Glen Davis is headed to New Jersey in a sign and trade. While Justin was reluctant to post any such rumor in print without specific details, Alex reported that Yi Jianlian was the target and it is likely that no further details have been sorted out yet.

That would be a horrible trade for Celtics. Yi can't do ANYTHING that Davis can, other than fill some seats with more Asians. Celts don't need any help to fill seats. Nets should hold on to Yi atleast for that purpose!!

lol...yi is the 'target'

Why even waste time sign & trading if you're Boston ?
I'd almost rather just lose baby than pick up Yi

Great point only that Nets don't really know what's going on... but on the real I don't see the Celts making this deal - they already have Scalabrine - a stick that can hit the occasional three pointer...

pistons need a new fresh new mcdyess

July 27, 2009  03:34 PM ET

The horents don't really need him so much and so don't the pistons, but the pistons could get a twin of mcdyess and not lose much from mcdyess leaving to the spurs.

I hope he gets a big offer and the Celticks have to match it.

That would be AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NO!!! In this economy he'll get 2-4 mil tops...Only big men get all the doe all the time no matter what...Big baby doesnt have a staple-he is a perfect role player-who overspends for those???

July 27, 2009  10:46 PM ET

The Celtics should get Davis signed as soon as possible. Cant have too much size, and with KG and Wallace up there in years we need Baby to play 15-20 minutes. Why risk losing this guy for a million dollar difference....4 mil is fair.
