It's not a neccesity.
The Angels could get by with what they have now in the post season.
I don't care how bad your pitching is, when all 9 of your starters are batting .300, you can afford to have a bad start or two.
Yep, 9 .300 hitters. 1-9, it's a pitchers nightmare. They don't give you any breaks in the line-up. They have 3 legitimate Mvp cantidates; Bobby Abreu, Kendry Morales, and Chone Figgins. And Torri Hunter was playing Mvp caliber before he got injured.
Bobby Abreu is having a truly dominate season. He's batting .310, he has an OBP of .404, he's on pace for 112 RBI, and he's batting .398 with RISP.
Kendry Morales has just been unbelievable. He has 26 Home Runs (on pace for 37), he's on pace for 112 RBI, he's batting .303, and he's batting .305 with RISP.
Figgins, in my opinion, should win Mvp. Been hitting over .300 the whole year (.308 now), he leads the league in runs scored with 94, he has an OBP of .403, he has 37 steals (will likely steal 50+), and he's batting .375 with RISP. He has been the catalyst for the #1 offense in the league.
Of course none of these 3 will win, because none of them have received any media attention outside an isolated story here and there. They're to busy focusing on John Smoltz, The Yankees, and the Red Sox, seriously, why not just call it what it really is The Yankee/Red Sox/Brett Favre Official Web site, because it's all they talk about.
And it appears that we're seeing Vlad's resurgence. He's the healthiest he's been in 2 years, and he is crushing the ball. I was laughing when I watched an Angel game on Fox, Eric Karros was so busy talking about Vlad's demise, that he barely noticed when Vlad hit a Home Run.
Then there are guys you NEVER hear of.
I bet no one (that isn't an Angel fan) knows Juan Rivera is batting .310 and is on pace for 28 Home Runs and 101 RBI.
I bet you had no clue that Erick Aybar is batting .353 since the All-star break (.313 overall) and that he turns in a highlite in the field daily.
Did you know Mike NaPoli is batting .300, and is the all-time leader for catchers in HR/AB?
Did you know Howie Kendrick is batting .373 since he got recalled from the minors, but can't get his job back from Maicer Izturis because Izturis is hitting .300 for the year and has a fielding% of .995 and a RF of 4.88 at 2nd base?
You know if the Angels wore pin stripes we wouldn't be able to get away from these player.

Are they frakkin incredible or what? Weaver just pitched a shutout, Lackey's in full gear, Bulger has been strong in relief (which will come in handy if Fuentes crumbles), and Bell just picked up his first MLB win with a pretty good performance. I'm liking what I'm seeing.

You seem to have gotten what you wished for last night.
And I did know about Juan Rivera and Napoli (They're on my fantasy team).
