“This death makes me so angry, but does it affect people in other neighbourhoods who think Lisa is just another dead DTES hooker?” Stella August, an Elder and long-time resident of the Downtown East Side (DTES). On July 23rd, Lisa Arlene Francis (above) was found floating in the Fraser River. I first met Lisa about one year ago at the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. Along with many others, I have been deeply angered and shaken by the murder of this beautiful and vibrant woman.
