Brief biography — Tell us YOUR Jewish campus life story!
Hillel Shabbat Services were a great opportunity to relax from a stressful week through prayer services and a meal. I met all my Jewish friends in college through Hillel and Shabbat Services gave us a regular time, place, and reason to see each other.

Brief biography — Tell us YOUR Jewish campus life story!
Jewish life at CMU was very different when I started there in 1999. We had a small little space above Kiva Han and very little participation. We struggled for attendance at all events, and Friday night dinners were sporadic, not every week. I was involved with Hillel from the beginning, trying to make headway in the Jewish community at CMU which I knew was there somewhere. During the end of my college career, I started to do fewer and fewer things with Hillel, but was happy to re-discover it during law school. I have now joined a synagogue in Pittsburgh, and am getting married in August, and my fiancé and I are very excited about starting a Jewish home together!

Brief biography — Tell us YOUR Jewish campus life story!
To be honest and fair, I did not really incorporate being Jewish so much into my campus life. I would observe the high holidays as well as Chanukah and Passover (on occasion I would go home to be with my family to observe). I did attend services at a hillel once or twice during college.

Brief biography — Tell us YOUR Jewish campus life story!
One of the best experiences I had was the annual Purim Party that we would throw down at PHI. It was a veritable who's who of Jews from school and I'd get to hang out with lots of people that I wouldn't see normally.
