Jackpot Structure 2009

$1 Million Prize

Successful claimants of the $1 Million Jackpot must win their event (a list of applicable jackpot events is shown below) at ALL SIX meetings of the ÅF Golden League.

However, should NO athlete manage to attain six wins and claim the $1 Million, then anyone with five victories will share half the original prize - $500,000. NOTE. this secondary prize is only on offer should nobody win his or her event at all six meetings.

All winners must compete at the IAAF World Athletics Final to be eligible for their share of the Jackpot.

The 2009 ÅF Golden League Jackpot event disciplines are - 

Men: 100m, 400m, 3000m/5000m, 110m Hurdles, Javelin Throw.

Women: 100m, 400m, 100m Hurdles, High Jump, Pole Vault.

In 2006 only the usual Jackpot formula which gives an equal share of the Jackpot between all the winners was changed accordingly -

Winning a Jackpot purse of US $249,999 each (83,333 + 166,666) for achieving SIX wins were three athletes:

Asafa Powell (JAM) – men’s 100m; Jeremy Wariner (USA) – 400m; Sanya Richards (JAM) – women’s 400m.

Winning a Jackpot purse of US $83,333 each for achieving FIVE wins were three athletes:

Kenenisa Bekele (ETH) – men’s 5000m; Irving Saladino (PAN) – men’s Long Jump; Tirunesh Dibaba (ETH) – women’s 5000m.
