Over the past few weeks, we’ve been getting plenty of superhero casting scoops on the Marvel front (we’re looking at you, Thor and Loki), but the DC Comics side of the aisle has been fairly blank, specifically regarding one of our most hotly-awaited films, “Green Lantern.”
Sure, there are a whole slew of contenders for the coveted role of Hal Jordan, but not a one of them has been named officially as of yet — and that’s because no one has been selected yet, said screenwriter Marc Guggenheim. Read more…

From the beloved “Batman: The Animated Series” to the latest string of DC Universe animated movies, casting/dialogue director Andrea Romano is owed tremendous thanks for picking out the voice talent for the bulk of DC’s cartoon properties. It’s certainly no different for “Green Lantern: First Flight,” the fifth DC Universe animated original film — except this time, Romano cast the four lead roles with actors that had done little to no voiceover work in the past.
Upon hearing the final product, however, Romano claims you can’t even tell that her actors are new to the animated scene. Read more…

“Green Lantern: First Flight” is getting closer and closer to its July release date, meaning that the press machine is rolling along just fine. We’ve already heard from director Lauren Montgomery, screenwriter Alan Burnett and actors Victor Garber and Juliet Landau, and now Michael Madsen is the latest participant to discuss his role as Kilowog in the project.
“I was quite humbled by being asked to play Kilowog in the first place,” Madsen said of joining the “Green Lantern” cast. “I don’t often get asked to voice animated characters, and I’ve always wanted to do something like that — it’s great fun for me.” Read more…

As the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814, Hal Jordan is responsible for the well-being of everybody and everything on Earth. But with a Machiavellian partner like Sinestro showing him the ropes, Hal Jordan’s experience in “Green Lantern: First Flight” promises to be a lot more like the Denzel Washington-starring “Training Day” than any DC Comics adventure before it — according to the film’s writer, that is.
“[Warner Bros. Animation] had been going through some ideas for Green Lantern stories and none of them were quite working out,” said screenwriter Alan Burnett. “So, I just pitched it to them in one line, ‘Have you ever done Green Lantern as Training Day?’ with the idea of the Denzel Washington role being Sinestro. They said, ‘That sounds pretty good — start writing.’ And that’s how it began.” Read more…

A disclaimer before we begin: This is not an official “Green Lantern” trailer. We repeat, this is not an official “Green Lantern” trailer. But lord knows we wish it was.
Given the absence of much official info regarding the much-anticipated DC here’s live-action debut, Jaron Pitts, a young video editor from Dallas, fabricated a trailer for his own vision of “Green Lantern” by splicing together clips from a multitude of other film projects. The trailer features fan-favorite actor Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan, utilizing clips from Fillion’s work on “Firefly” and “Serenity” in the trailer. The actor himself loved the fan trailer so much that he even endorsed it on Twitter.
“I LOVE THIS!” Fillion proclaimed. “This guy rocks!” Read more…

Not only does “Green Lantern” director Martin Campbell’s wife, Sol Romero, have an inside track on the plot of the much-anticipated live-action film, she also has a mysterious role in the movie, too. And while she can’t say much about the production, she did offer up some thoughts recently about the scope of the Emerald Knight’s big-screen debut.
“I personally think the movie is going to be bigger than any other comic movies, like ‘Spider-Man,’” Romero told SCI FI Wire. “There is really going to be a lot of action and entertainment [in 'Green Lantern.']” Read more…

“Wedding Crashers” scene-stealer Bradley Cooper is the most visible actor in “The Hangover,” a June 5 comedy with tremendous advance buzz. Having seen the flick, I definitely agree that he seems likely to break out with the funny film about four friends who wake up after a wild night to find a trashed hotel room cluing them into the insanity of the previous evening.
The film takes place in Las Vegas, and I recently traveled to the city of sin to talk to the 34-year-old actor. This seemed only appropriate, since he’s either completely clueless about reports that he might soon play The Green Lantern, or he has one hell of a poker face. Read more…

There’s no doubt that the upcoming live-action “Green Lantern” film is hogging online attention lately, but don’t discount “Green Lantern: First Flight,” the DC Universe animated movie heading to DVD and Blu-Ray in July. Focused specifically on Hal Jordan’s space-oriented mythos, the cartoon adventure is sure to boast plenty of laughs, sci-fi goodness and action thanks to the watchful eye of Lauren Montgomery.
As the director of the March-released “Wonder Woman” animated feature, Montgomery has some experience with what makes the DC Universe tick from both a storytelling and visual standpoint. And if you asked the talented animation maven herself, she’d tell you that the voice actors behind “First Flight” have a similar level of understanding and ability. Read more…

Forget about the Arnold Schwarzenegger cameo and the Linda Hamilton tapes –- the most interesting aspect of “Terminator Salvation” might be the curious fact that it features two very-different actors connected with the superhero Green Lantern.
It’s no secret that burly actor/rapper Common was slated to play John Stewart in the now-stuck-in-development-hell “Justice League of America” movie. And as separate plans have evolved into a solo film centering on Hal Jordan, Sam Worthington’s name also keeps popping up.
“I don’t know about that,” Worthington told MTV News. An old friend of “Green Lantern” director Martin Campbell, Worthington insists he’s waiting to read a script, and could just as easily pass. “I couldn’t really see myself in green spandex, mate.” Read more…

The Bradley Cooper as Green Lantern casting rumor hasn’t even begun to cool down, and already there are new names being thrown into the ring for the coveted role of Hal Jordan.
Unnamed sources are telling Latino Review that newcomer actor Shawn Roberts and “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” star Brian Austin Green are both in contention for the lead role in director Martin Campbell’s “Green Lantern” adaptation, set to release on June 17, 2011.
Roberts is said to have auditioned for Campbell “various times” and has met with the director to discuss the role and the film. He also has an advantage in that he recently wrapped filming on Campbell’s “Edge of Darkness.” The site is also quick to point out that Roberts is 25 years old, falling right in the optimal age range for a younger Hal Jordan.
