Here’s something I mentioned awhile ago that I thought would be fun. Here are the entries by Comic Book Idol 1 winner, Patrick Scherberger, that won him the original contest. Now remember, this year’s contest is pretty much strictly sequential work, so it will be unlike Patrick’s entries here, but this is still interesting to see, no?
Round 1
Round 2
Round 3
Round 4
Round 5

I still can’t fathom why Patrick isn’t a bigger name in comics. He does such good work but he’s only doing Marvel Adventures Spider-Man! I guess he’s not grim and gritty enough which is a shame. Marvel needs to utilize his talent better before he jumps ship to DC (If DC is wise enough to tempt him over.)

Ah, those were good times. I remember them well. As I recall, we had FTP problems late in one of those rounds and I wound up hosting one of those images on my website for awhile until we could get it straightened out.
It was mass chaos in that first year, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
The best man won, though I still root for Martin Redmond. . .

I dunno, it really looks like the Marvel Adventures line of books are seriously trying. Previous lines like this seemed to be treated as second class books — these certainly look to have the same quality of colouring and paper, and with people like multi-Eisner winning Ty Templeton on board as writer for the Marvel Adventures Avengers I dunno that Sherberger is exactly being wasted. I also hear that sales on the line are stronger than expected.
That being said, I think he’s already left the Spider-Man title interiors and so might already be migrating to a MU book.

Marvel’s got big plans for Scherbie!
