Casualties of the Afghan War
Since the beginning of the war in Afghanistan on Oct. 7, 2001, 563 American service members - listed here - have died in Operation Enduring Freedom, the global antiterror campaign. Of those deaths, according to an analysis by The New York Times, 510 have occurred in Afghanistan or are directly linked to the war. (August 7, 2008)
