The Centennial Administration attaches great importance to educational projects.  Coupled with community programs, these projects will impart values that extend beyond the centennial year and will shape the character of future generations.  Tel-Aviv-Yafo will be the central theme at all municipal educational institutions during the 2008-2009 school year.  Teachers and educators will be entrusted with conveying the vision formulated by the founding fathers, strengthening the bonds between the pupils and the city, and instilling values that will determine the nature of Tel-Aviv-Yafo during its next 100 years. The planned projects will also expose the pupils to the city's cultural and artistic undertakings and will enhance their awareness of municipal environmental protection.

 Yearlong Events:

Curricula Focusing on Tel-Aviv-Yafo: In anticipation of the Centennial year, a number of special educational programs have been developed relating to the history of Tel-Aviv-Yafo, its fundamental values, its cultural and artistic life, and the promotion of green activities in the municipal sphere. These programs will be studied during the 2008-2009 school year throughout the city's school system.

One of the created for the Centennial Year is “Metylim BeTel Aviv” – a special textbook for elementary school children. The book features Hebrew vowels (“Nikkud”) and is perfect for students studying Hebrew.

Field Trips: During the Centennial year, pupils will take part in local field trips to become better acquainted with the city, including its different neighborhoods and stories.

Plays and Exhibitions Dealing With Tel-Aviv-Yafo: During the 100th anniversary year, the Centennial Administration and the Tel-Aviv-Yafo Municipality will grant special subsidies enabling pupils to attend plays and exhibitions dealing with Tel-Aviv-Yafo.  These extracurricular activities will deepen the pupils' familiarity with the city's historical heritage, its vibrant artistic accomplishments, and its many cultural institutions, museums and theaters.

Green Activities at Schools:  Nature conservation and environmental protection are cornerstones of the educational programs planned for the centennial year.  This stems from the belief that the city's future is dependent on the next generation adopting and implementing green values.  During the 2008-2009 school year, the city's schools will run special projects designed to promote environmental awareness in Tel-Aviv-Yafo.  These projects will focus on diverse green topics, such as: planting trees and greenery, building nests for birds of prey, renewing the municipal coastline, restoring animals to open spaces around the city, etc.  At the end of the 2008-2009 school year, a "Green Day" will be held at which the various projects will be presented to the public at large.
