It's really a no-brainer: MTV is where music, celebrity and pop culture collide! We've been in the business of staying on top of what's "Buzzworthy" since, well, forever. If you can dance or rock out to it, if you're laughing at it, Googling it or geeking out about it, we're likely doing the same here inside the MTV headquarters in New York's Times Square. So kick back and check out the goods... buzzworthy@mtv.com

Daniel caught up with All Time Low backstage before their MTV New Year’s Eve performance, where Jack revealed a leeeeeettle too much about his New Year’s resolution. Yowch. Drink (your sparkling grape juice) every time the guys say “d—.”
Oh, and for those of you keeping track, this marks the second time a band mentioned Pikachu in a Buzzworthy interview — the first was A Cursive Memory!

The Academy Is… talks beards, bacne, the Jim Carrey fan club, scoliosis, and shooting hoops off Shaq’s face in this exclusive interview backstage at MTV on New Year’s Eve. Oh yeah, their New Year’s resolution: collectively not dying! A great start!

He’s got that Miami flavah, but Kevin Rudolf’s a straight-up New Yorker through and through, as evidenced by the title of his album, In The City. And you KNOW “Let It Rock” (his monster single with Lil Wayne) has been popping up in your head intermittently for weeks now. And now it’s jamming up your brain again! You’re welcome!

Many have dreamed it, but few have actually achieved it. Buzzworthy blogger Daniel, however, made it past security and INTO The Veronicas‘ dressing rooms for one-on-one interviews with Jess and Lisa.
Watch The Veronicas get glammin’ and slammin’ and pretty up and prep for their hostess-ly duties before TONIGHT’S big MTV New Year’s show!

Wow. What would you give to have The Miley & Mandy Show — aka Miley Cyrus and her pal Mandy Jiroux — celebrating New Year’s Eve at your house? How could something like that even be possible? Well, it happened to Alison because M&M Cru wanted to do something to honor the work she’s done and money she’s raised for breast cancer awareness with the Pink Ribbon Club Foundation.
High school Pink Ribbon Clubs work to increase teen and young adult awareness of breast cancer and provide those ever-so-important community service opportunities, as well as raising funds in the fight against breast cancer.
Kids like Alison are working with the non-profit Pink Ribbon Club Foundation and doing really great stuff with high school clubs in California (where Alison established her club), Ohio, West Virginia, Connecticut, Florida and Arkansas. There are also college clubs at University of Southern California and University of California, Santa Barbara that assist in starting high school clubs and raising awareness on their own campuses.
Any high school student (boys or girls) can participate, and the Pink Ribbon Club Foundation provides professional support, resources, education, imagination and necessary tools to the clubs to help them achieve their goals.
You won’t believe how easy it is to start a Pink Ribbon Club at your high school. If you’re interested, visit prc-foundation.org for more information or email prcfoundation@aol.com for a free New Club Starter Kit.

With more buzz than a hornets’ nest, The Ting Tings had the music blog-uh-sphere in the palm of their little British hands in the first half of 2008.Then they dropped their “Shut Up And Let Me Go” video and we were basically eating out of those same hands, which opened up to reveal one of the most visually mesmerizing videos since a-ha’s legendary “Take On Me.”
Directed by British duo Alex and Liane (Bloc Party’s “Banquet” and Sam Sparro’s “Black and Gold” — an absolute Buzzworthy fave) in just one day (!!!), “Shut Up And Let Me Go” is a hypnotic tunnel of Kill Bill-reminiscent kung fu, moving walls, wry transitions, more hand signs than exercise hour at a prison yard, more depth than an empty swimming pool, and more dimension than a box of 3D glasses. Plus, the tension, energy, and dynamism of the video takes the whole “trapped-in-a-crappy-relationship” theme to new levels… You reading this, Audrina?
“Shut Up And Let Me Go” was nominated for Video of the Year at the 2008 VMAs but got trounced by Britney. It did, however, win Best UK Video, and, far more importantly, the esteemed honor of my very favorite video of 2008!
This is my VERY last post of 2008, so go have yourself a safe, happy new year, and go watch Miley!

There were so many amazing videos this year that we decided to commemorate our fave three by doing a mini Buzzworthy Countdown. (Sorta like MTV’s Best of 2008lists, except shorter!) Read on to find out the reasoning behind my #1 pick.
Forget what they taught you in elementary school about how “winning isn’t everything.” In the real world, there aren’t any honorable mentions (or crappy fake medals) for coming in second, no matter how well you played or how many sportsmanship points you scored.
And since it’s all about being the best, I’m not going to sit here and sugarcoat it for all you die-hard Katy Perry/Jonas Brothers/Tokio Hotel fans out there. In the totally plausible (but technically made-up) words of Bill Clinton on the eve of the Democratic National Convention: “You fought a good fight, Hill, but 2008 just wasn’t your year.”
So give it up for Madge — whose alarmingly muscular frame and dance skillz only get stronger with age — by rewatching her video “4 Minutes.” And remember: it’s never too late to keep reinventing yourself. After all, if Bernard Madoff’s long-running Ponzi scheme has taught us anything, it’s that it ain’t over til it’s really, really over.
Well, that and you should ALWAYS diversify your investments.
+ BONUS: Watch my second and third Most Favorite Videos of 2008! Or, as I call them, the videos that didn’t win.

+ Rumor has it Britney Spears has a new man! According to the U.K. tabs, Brit’s dating “Womanizer” choreographer Sandip Soparrkar, a comely Indian fellow whom she’s already nicknamed “Sandy.” (The Mirror - UK)
+ Breaking: Nicole Richie occasionally sends her boyfriend sexy texts! Also, she apparently loves shoes. Jeez, who IS this girl? (ICYDK)
+ Christina Aguilera to maybe, possibly design her own line in the U.K.! Question: Are we 100% sure she’s over that whole assless chaps phase? (Refinery29)
+ It’s hypothetical New Year’s Resolution time! Find out what we think Lauren Conrad & the Hillzies need to work on in ‘09. (Remote Control)
+ Meanwhile, Britney Spears‘ (actual) 2009 New Year’s Resolution is to stop biting her nails. SAME AS US! Britney, call us! We’ll go to an NBA (Nailbiters Anonymous) meeting sometime! Or, you know, just talk. (OK!)
+ And in other Mimi-related news, speculation over her maybe-pregnancy runs rampant after her hubby orders himself a lame-o virgin daiquiri. (Scandalist)
+ Kanye West takes to the blogosphere to clear up rumors that he’ll be partying it up tonight. His actual New Year’s Eve plans? Sit at home and watch some hoops. (Contact Music)

Despite the fact that she got cell dumped by Joe Jonas earlier this year, gorgeous teen queen Taylor Swift still knows a thing or two about falling in love.
With her #1 hit album, Fearless, Taylor is enjoying her time in the spotlight and isn’t sweatin’ the fact that she doesn’t have a boy toy. But Tay Tay does have some rules in place just in case Mr. Right happens to strut on by (like don’t send two text messages in a row, or be the first one to call a guy), and after watching her “Love Story” video 30 or 40 times, we’re pretty sure we’ve identified five more sure signs that Senorita Swift has the hots for you:
5. Updos: Boyz, take note: Girls don’t spend this much time on their hair unless there’s some POTENTIAL here. Cascading tendrils in particular are a sure sign that a make-out sesh is most probably in your future.
4. Puffy Shirt: If you can get away with wearing one of those Shakespearean poetry shirt things (like the one Justin Gaston wears in “Love Story”), and Taylor’s STILL crushin’ on you, you are so golden (sidenote: make sure no one has a camera if you attempt this at home … you don’t want these sorta pics showing up on Facebook.)
3. Dance Lessons: Taylor was dancing with her man like a total Cinderella. And just because she didn’t have Laurie Ann Gibson choreographing her moves doesn’t mean she wasn’t working hard. Someone was obvs teaching Taylor to two-step, and if you’re willing to hit up Arthur Murray School of Dance for a dude, again, we predict TLF.
2. Sneaking Out At Night: Taylor is a good girl, and despite those crazy pregnancy rumors, we don’t peg her for someone who’s out breaking curfew for no good reason. We can only think of *one* reason to do such a thing, and that would be true lurv.
1. Romeo And Juliet: When girlfriend starts making reference to the two most famous star-crossed lovers in the history of ever, chances are she likes-you likes you. Other things to watch out for: prince/princess refs. Though for the record, she is not wearing a wedding dress.
We’ll all have to stay tuned to see if for-real, for-realz true love finds its way into Taylor Swift’s life in 2009. We’re guessing this adorable country-pop hottie won’t be flying solo for much longer. Happy New Year, Taylor! (and all y’all!)

My reasons for loving the Jonas Brothers‘ “Lovebug” video are manifold and thus: you get moderate patriotism, olde-tymey cameras, an homage to the elegance of the big band era, a snoring gramps, a Notebook-esque love story, and a forum for fantasizing about what it’d be like to move into an ACTUAL BUNGALOW AND DRINK SODAS WITH THE JONAS BROTHERS.
But also, unlike a lot of dime-a-dozen videos that hide a lack of substance behind over-the-top camera tricks and technique, “Lovebug” relied on the pull of the video’s strong emotional narrative and the expertise of director Philip Andelman.
