Southern Association of Colleges reaccredits Tuskegee University

The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), at its annual meeting held on December 9, 2008, reaffirmed accreditation for Tuskegee University for another ten years (until 2018) without the requirement of any single follow-up report, a rare distinction that was only afforded to two institutions in its group.

SIAC takes official Turkey Day Classic stance, offers formal apology to Golden Tigers

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference issued a formal apology to Tuskegee University today, citing the quality of officiating as "distressingly poor," in response to an erroneous, outcome-changing call made during the Nov. 27, 85th Annual Turkey Day Football Classic game against Alabama State University.  The game officials disallowed an obvious game-winning touchdown by the Golden Tigers in the final seconds of play.

Tuskegee University's Food and Nutritional Sciences Department Nutrition Fair

The Tuskegee University Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences held a Nutrition, Health and Physical Activity (NHPA) Fair recently on the grounds of the Thomas M. Reed Ambulatory Center, located at 908 East Water St. The fair was an effort to restrain the devastating rate of heart disease and obesity in the Black Belt region of Alabama.  The Honorable Mayor, Omar Neal, served as the Master of Ceremony.

All-SIAC Football Team Announced: Atkinson, Slater receive highest accolades

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2008 All-Conference Football Team, All-Academic Team and Superlatives on Wed., Nov. 19. The Tuskegee Golden Tigers landed nine players on the all-conference team, four on the first team and five on the second team.  Two Golden Tigers made the all-academic team.

Marching Crimson Pipers set to make sixth appearance in Battle of the Bands

The Marching Crimson Piper Band made the cut for the seventh annual Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase. The high-stepping, energetic ensemble will perform Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The Tuskegee band and nine other Historically Black Colleges and Universities' bands were chosen through a combination of online voting by fans and a selection process involving HBCU band directors and university presidents.
