Why register?
When you visit NYTimes.com, we ask you to register. By requiring registration, we are able to offer people around the world free-of-charge access to news, reviews and more on NYTimes.com. Please browse our Privacy Policy endorsed by TRUSTe, the Web's leading privacy watchdog, and the Council of Better Business Bureaus' BBBOnLine Privacy Program, if you are concerned about entering your personal information.

Find out more about what's available on our Web site.

Is registration free?
Yes. Registration is free of charge, and gives you access to most areas of NYTimes.com. Any premium areas of the site or premium products (such as Premium Crosswords, or The NYT Article Archive) do require a fee, but you will be amply warned before entering any area of the site that requires payment.

How do I register?
To register, please fill out all of the fields on the registration form, note your Member ID and password for future reference, and press "Click to Complete Your Free Registration" at the bottom of the form.

Instructions for each item on the registration page are available here. When you have successfully completed the registration, a screen will confirm the registration and allow you into the site.

Having trouble registering?
If you're having difficulty registering, please read the instructions here for filling out the form. You can also fax your registration form to us. If you have further questions about registration or the site in general, contact Customer Service.

I've already registered. How do I log on?
If you've already registered, simply enter your ID and password on our Log In page. Look on the right side of the screen for the area labeled LOG IN NOW. If you've forgotten your ID or password, please use our online password finder.

What is a "Secret Question"?
The "Secret Question" is an optional field on our registration form. By selecting a secret question and answer you will be able to retrieve your NYTimes.com password quickly if you forget it.

To protect your account, make sure your "Secret Answer" is memorable for you but hard for others to guess.

Why do we need your e-mail address?
NYTimes.com asks that you provide your e-mail address in order to contact you if you forget your password, or if you sign up for any of our newsletters.

NYTimes.com will never share your information, including your e-mail address, without your explicit permission.

Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.

How do I get additional help?
If you need additional help, please ask Customer Service.
