From Northland to Manawatu, including Coromandel and the central plateau: Cloud increasing in most places today, with evening drizzle patches about the central ranges, Mt Taranaki.
Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa: Fine, with variable high cloud.
Kapiti Coast and Wellington: Cloudy skies with patchy drizzle developing about the northern Wellington suburbs and near the Tararua ranges this afternoon.
Marlborough and Nelson: Rain spreading from the west late this morning, with heavy falls developing about the ranges.
Buller and Westland: Widespread rain developing by dawn, with heavy thundery falls from late morning.
Canterbury and Otago: Scattered rain spreading southwards this morning with persistent and heavier falls developing in South Canterbury and about the foothills.
Fiordland and Southland: High cloud with scattered rain developing this afternoon.
The Chatham Islands: Cloud increasing with some late rain.

Saturday: North Island, rain spreading from the west, but only brief falls in Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. South Island, rain or showers for all.
Sunday: North Island, morning showers clearing from the west, but lingering in the south and spreading up the east with a southerly change. South Island, fine spells in the west and north, showers at times in the south and showers gradually clearing from the east.
Monday: North Island, fine apart from the odd bit of cloud. South Island, mainly fine but a few morning showers in the south.
Chatham Islands: Rain or showers on Saturday and Sunday, with northwesterlies becoming strong late Saturday then changing southwest on Sunday. Occasional showers on Monday and southwesterlies easing.
