He signed on the dotted line and violated his contract.  his morality or anyone else's are irreverent.

Pull your head out boy;  we convicted the NAZIs for war crimes only because they surrendered unconditionally to the allied powers.  During Korean war, US Army commuted the sentences and freed many NAZIs to help us fight the commies.

Victory is a dirty word but better than the alternative.
