Matt Groening's Hellboy

In our continuing series of Cool Stuff features which began with what f if Charlie Brown cartoonist Charles Schulz created the Watchmen, continued with what if Dennis The Menace cartoonist Hank Ketcham created The Fantastic Four, we now bring you -

What if The Simpsons/Futurama creator Matt Groening created Hellboy.

The catch here is that the sketch was actually done by Matt Groening himself actually it turns out that it was done by David Au, one of the Futurama animators. It was included in the Hellboy comic book which was distributed on Free Comic Book Day 2008.

If I had known that was included, I might’ve gone the 50 or so miles I would have had to go to reach a comic shop around here that actually observes Free Comic Book day.

That was actually done by one of the Futurama animators, David Au. He also did a great Star Wars lineup. The walls of the animation offices are lined with these kind of pieces; the artists on these shows are an amazingly creative bunch.

He showed it to Guy, who liked it so much they printed it.
