Program Announcement
The Reader’s Digest National Word Power Challenge has enjoyed the support of educators and parents alike and the program has served as a catalyst for many students to increase their vocabulary skills.
The Reader’s Digest Association has made the decision not to hold the National Word Power Challenge for the 2007-2008 school year, but rather to use the time to evaluate the program in every respect, including scope, mission, and model for implementation.
We greatly appreciate your encouragement over the years as we have grown the Reader’s Digest National Word Power Challenge into a formidable competition for students in grades four through eight.
In the meantime, we will continue to boost English language skills through the Word Power column featured in every issue of Reader’s Digest magazine, through our popular and respected Weekly Reader classroom magazines and teacher resources and through the Daily Word Power Challenge feature at the Weekly Reader Website (weeklyreader.com).
