Raunchy girl group the Pussycat Dolls are bringing their wardrobe of burlesque outfits, lacy underwear and leggings to New Zealand for a one-off show.

The group, led by front woman Nicole Scherzinger, will perform at Auckland's Vector Arena on May 16.

Rising electro-pop star Lady Gaga, who also performs in an array of outrageous outfits, will open for the Dolls.

Formed in 1995 as a burlesque dance troupe, the Pussycat Dolls were relaunched in 2003 as a musical outfit, featuring members Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton and Kimberly Wyatt.

They've scored a series of chart-busting singles, including Don't Cha, Beep, Buttons and I Don't Need a Man.

The tour is in support of their second album, Doll Domination.

Tickets for the show go on sale on December 12.

  4. oh yay, live disposable teen pop sexualising 12-15 year old girls with their brand of glamourously uninspired, un-creative music. give it 5 years and you will all be embarrassed to have ever owned one of their records... anyone into spice girls lately? same crap, trends, fashion, glamour, sex,... should not be a part of the music industry.. they shouldnt even call it music.

  12. It's a shame that they aren't doing a gig in Wellington as well as PCD have a massive following so this shows bound to be a sell-out!!!

I can already see all the tweeny fans girl fans screaming their heads off before PCD even get on stage - it happened at the Chris Brown/Rihanna concert and at the Justin Timberlake concert. in saying that, this is bound to be an amazing performance.

  13. Hahahaha, don't you just love people who take the time to be negative. Someone from my family will definitely be going. The Pussy Cats are fantastic pop. Their songs are catchy, they look and dance great, and I love the fact that kids love them.

Who cares what they are like in 5 years time. Right now is where it is at.

  27. there should be seperate music charts for this kind of crap.... its less to do with music than it is to do with fashion, glamour, sex, attitude and making young girls feel as if they need to go out and buy a "wardrobe of burlesque outfits, lacy underwear and leggings" to feel adequette, not to mention lose 10kgs and have plastic surgery.

what a load of crap, stop calling it music.. maybe 'theatrical erotic performance' would be a more acurate description.

  32. Totally will go! Lady Gaga rocks and its the way you choose to look at it. I am all for the pussycat dolls its nice to have a group of intelligent women being independent, supporting each other and making great music. The words of their songs are actually quite empowering as well. Just because they look good and wear revealing clothes doesn't automatically make them poor role models. Plus perhaps parents should exercise a bit of censorship as opposed to blaming everyone in the media for their oversexed daughters, when it wouldn't hurt to practice some parenting skills occasionally.

  38. Sounds like the concert will be a great night. Unsure if I will go. I like some of The Pussycat Doll's songs. Lady GaGa is fierce and has written music for PCD and other acts.

PCD originated from a burlesque troupe, then the choreographer decided to search for new members for the music group.

  41. Umm ok well i luv the pussycat dolls ever since they started iv just thought they are so cool for being able 2 get out there wearing hardly n e fng at all and still producing gud music. I was angus dat i didnt go 2 Gwen Stefanis cause shes the bomb diggidy!!! And Rihanna would have been cool but if dis is a sell out it is deffinatly worth it. The pussycat dolls are just so awsum and my fav song from them is deffinalty WHEN I GROW UP because the words they speak are everything i wish to be and acomplish so i would deffinatly go. However in saying that i do 2 a degree agree with what "Ian" below has said when he compared the pcd to the spice girlz. I personally thnk dat spice gurlz were neva as cool as pcd but their act may get tireing afta a while, which is exactly y i wanna go to their concert!!! I wanna get in there before they go owta fashion, But they will neva go owta fashion for me!!! PCD rockz mah Sockz haha. xoxoxox

  42. Hell Yes!

Everyone has their own taste in music and between the lyrics to some of their songs, the music (that's great to dance to!) and the girls themselves, they'll have the tickets sold out in minutes.

    Go PCD!!
