Dare Obasanjo had a blog post a while ago about the whole "Don't give them laptops, give them water instead!" comments. In short? Not everyone in Africa is starving. Some just need cheap computers to help them improve technologically.

Yes. All of those people from the great country of Africa. Africa is big. It has lots of people. Some of them need water. Others need education for their kids. Others need infrastructure. And some of them need to build up their tech-industry to help compete with China, India and the USA.
