MMPI Takes Over N.Y. Piers Management A few months earlier than the company originally said it expected, Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. has taken over management of New York City's Piers 92 and 94 from ENK Intl. Lorenz Hasserstein has been named vice president and general manager of the piers, effective immediately.
The Craft & Hobby Assn. is moving its CHA Summer Craft & Hobby Show from Rosemont to Orlando's Orange County Convention Center July 28-30. The association also announced it will launch a consumer show, the CHA Craft SuperShow, at the OCCC July 31-Aug. 1. CHA members will exhibit at both shows.
Melbourne, Australia-based Diversified Exhibitions acquired two Australian consumer show brands: The Irresistible Gluten Free Food Show, from the Irresistible Group, and the Gluten Free Food & Allergy Shows, which has two editions, from Wag Events.
Paris-based Lingerie Americas will cease its tradeshow operations effective immediately, according to a company spokesperson. The semiannual shows, launched by the French Federation of Lingerie and Swimwear, were held in New York and Las Vegas.
Gaylord Entertainment terminated its plans to develop a $1 billion resort and convention center in Chula Vista, Calif. According to the company, the cancellation was a result of "prolonged planning and approval processes, a complicated regulatory and legal structure and excessive off-site infrastructure costs."
Diversified Business Communications has formed a partnership with Kristin Petrovich and acquired an equity stake in her company, HD Expo. Burbank, Calif.-based HD Expo has four annual events, including the same-named HD Expo, as well as 50 days of workshops and education for the high-definition and content creation communities.
