A $6 million six-seater chairlift at Mt Buller, the first-stage opening of the $50 million gateway project at Falls Creek, and millions spent on snowmaking systems at Perisher Blue,Thredbo and Hotham.
Hotham's famed Heavenly Valley will be even more enticing in 2008 with a $3.3 million snowmaking system to ensure good conditions even when nature doesn't come to the party.
Chris Anthony has starred in 18 Warren Miller movies and has spent a lifetime skiing the steepest lines on the biggest mountains around the world.
There are two sides to every story and this is especially true of Thredbo, which has the longest vertical drop in Australia ; a thigh burning 672m.
Stage one of the $50 million St Falls project will be up and running for opening weekend.St Falls is the first point of call given its location at the bottom of the Falls Express chairlift, which whisks riders up to Cloud 9 and the snowsports school.
Mt Buller will offer even more spectacular mountain-top vistas this season following the removal of 25 lift towers over summer.
Each winter, more skiers and snowboarders head to Perisher Blue than any other ski area in the southern hemisphere.
Now the focus is turning to the southern hemisphere and the portents are good. Australia is under the influence of a La Nina, which brings higher than average rainfall.
The thought of hurtling down the mountain like a human puck worried me at first, but once the kids had thrown down the gauntlet, there was no way this mum was going to show her age.
You go to New Zealand to ski, but it's so achingly beautiful you end up just looking. I used to fight it, jealous of the precious skiing time I was "wasting" while gazing at the scenery.
Drop-dead gorgeous: Thredbo has the longest run in Australia and new snowmaking for the lower reaches of
the mountain.
