Hi I have been on a spiritual journey, and I realize so is everyone else on beliefnet. I have food tat it has given back to me the need to create, to draw to write to dance and listen to music. Since being really ill these past few years I let my creativity slide, but know its like Jesus is prompting me to achieve what is inside of me. I have outlined 2 novels which both have potential. I feel like doing that last revision, on my last novel. Does anyone else have this feeling??

Absolutely. I have been sick for the past few months and recently buried my father in law. My creative side had to take a back seat to "circumstances". Now that the dust is settling and I am finally feeling better, I have the energy and drive to create and get back into good physical shape. I think the weather definitely helps too - I love summer and come back to life this time of year.

Write on!

Blessings,

Professor Jay

I would tend to think that all humans are creative and that that innate creativity will express itself positively or negatively depending on how it is nurtured as the individual develops. Even destructiveness can be creative, just negatively so.

Spirituality, which is the relationship between a conscious mind and the cosmos, can be a great well-spring for positive creativity.

Namchuck, great point, my best works as well as mi daughters I have always suspected had a little (lot?) of "help" from a higher power. The point you made how creativity can be also used for "bad" makes me think ok is there a higher power of "bad" I personally think there is.

Thanks rosesinjanuary (still the loveliest name on B'net), but I find myself altogether indifferent to all references to the rather vague notion of some 'higher power'. Neither do I see any need to point beyond man's own capacity for good and bad.
Everything man has accomplished, both positively and negatively, has a natural explanation. As I said, the creative human being who mars public or private property with graffiti, or destroys someone's letterbox, is probably only lacking a proper and more positive outlet for his creativity.

You seem to be making an attempt to shift responsibility away from humans in your invoking of higher powers of 'good' and 'bad' that may, among other things, exploit man's innate creativity.
Why do you feel the need to do this?
Could it be, perhaps, that you are simply allowing a priori beliefs to color your views?

I have found that when my creativity has been stifled I suffer from depression. When I am not being myself and creative, I sure know it in a hurry. That sure is a gift, when I listen, all the answers are there, my body is the first to tell me when things are not as it should be. When I am being creative and things are as they should be, my spirit sings, it is a natural high. My drug of choice is Jesus, he brings so many blessings, I am so greatful. Kelly.

I have this feeling...
I was best at art at my high school, I am now studying biology and have no artist expression anymore, partly due to laziness. There is a strong urge inside me to create...
I see my old art teacher in my town sometimes and she shouts at me DON'T LET YOUR TALENT GO TO WASTE!!! I also feel a novel inside me as I've done through alot even though I am only 18.

I hopefully get the boost of motivation soon....

Good Luck angelguidehoneyangel
