The United States Numbered Bicycle Routes is an integrated system of regional bicycle routes in the United States. It is the bicycle route equivalent to the system of United States Numbered Highways.

The system was established in 1982 by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) for the purpose of "facilitat[ing] travel between the states over routes which have been identified as being more suitable than others for cycling."[1]

The system initially consisted of two routes, and still does to this day:

No substantial changes have been made to the system since 1982; but minor routing changes have been made in Virginia.

An AASHTO task force is studying further expansion of the system of U.S. Bicycle Routes.[2] [3]
