Family Activity Planner

The Telegraph Family Activity Planner means you'll never be stuck for something to do with the kids. It has more than 60,000 family days out and child-friendly activities to choose from - and now has free email alerts!

The Family Activity Planner is a free service, but to use it you will need to have Flash installed on your computer. A Flash player can easily be downloaded from www.adobe.com.

  • Instructions

To use the Family Activity Planner, choose the kind of event you're looking for (Free, Indoor, Outdoor, or any combination of these), then check the boxes of as many of the categories as you think are relevant (you can just click on "Select All" if you want to check them all quickly).

Then, roll your mouse over the map to see the regions and click on whichever you're interested in - you'll see its name appear in the box - or, if you prefer, enter your postcode. Finally, use the time check boxes or the date dropdowns to define the period in which you'd like to view your family days out and child-friendly activities.

When you're all done click "Search" and the activities corresponding to your selection will appear on a map. The key beneath the map should help you work out which kinds of activity are which - and remember, the icons that look like little hot air ballons with dots on them mean that more than one activity is happening at that particular location!

Click on any icon to get more information about any of the events, and enter your postcode into the Directions tab if you like to find how to get there.

And if you'd rather have the results listed so that they're easy to print, just click "See results as a list". It's easy!

Don't forget that you can enter your own activities and set up free email alerts for activities that are happening in your area by using the Add an eventand Email alerts pages.
