ADL Condemns Anti-Latino Hate Crime in South Boston
Boston, MA, April 5, 2007 ... The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) New England Region expressed outrage at reports of an apparent hate crime in South Boston targeting two Latino/Hispanic men. Allegedly, anti-Hispanic/Latino slurs were hurled at two male victims while they were being violently assaulted.
Jim Rudolph, ADL New England Regional Board Chair, along with Andrew Tarsy, ADL New England Regional Director, issued the following statement:
"We condemn this hateful assault. None of us can afford to be bystanders in the face of this kind of senseless bigotry and violence. We commend the Boston Police Community Disorders Unit for taking it seriously and we anticipate a prompt and thorough investigation. All communities must speak out and teach our children that hate against one is hate against all."
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
