Athletics

There is nothing quite like the energy and spirit you'll find at Syracuse University's Carrier Dome on the night of a big game. The University and the student body set the bar when it comes to collegiate athletics and school spirit.

The Carrier Dome is a 50,000-seat sports stadium located right on campus. It is the only domed stadium in the Northeast, and is the largest structure of its kind on a U.S. college campus. And the students and community sure can fill it up... on March 5, 2006, Orange fans set the NCAA single-game, on-campus attendance record for basketball, packing 33,633 people into the Carrier Dome, and surpassing the previous record... also set by SU.

It's no wonder why everyone loves SU sports. Syracuse is one of just two Division IA schools that can claim national championships in football, men's basketball, and men's lacrosse. The women's lacrosse team is also hugely successful, having competed in five NCAA Tournaments since its first invitation in 2000.

With its state-of-the-art facilities, esteemed coaching staffs, strong academic reputation, and boisterous student body, the next 100 years should prove as successful as the past century for SU athletics.
