We follow strict standards to safeguard personal information.

We collect and retain information about you through our website when you do business with us on our website.   For example, we obtain this information when you apply for, renew and pay for membership, register for our continuing medical education or other courses, participate in one of our surveys or subscribe to or purchase one or more of our publications or products.   The information you may provide would typically include your name, mailing and email addresses, fax numbers, credit card numbers and other similar personal identifying information. 

We sometimes use this information to communicate with you, such as to notify you about events, courses, and other updates about UHMS that we want to share with you.   You can opt out of receiving such e-mails at any time by sending us an e-mail or letter (via postal mail) indicating that you no longer wish to receive such e-mails or other communications from the website.  We also share our information with organizations that provide the continuing medical education courses we sponser.  If you do not wish for us to share information about you to our continuing medical education partners, then you can opt out by sending us an e-mail or letter (via postal mail) indicating that you no longer wish us to share your information with such organizations.

If you register for our annual meeting we provide information about you to our exhibitors and sponsors but only if you give us consent to do so at the time you register.

EXCEPT AS STATED ABOVE, WE DO NOT SELL OR OTHERWISE GIVE YOUR INFORMATION TO ANYONE AND DO NOT DISCLOSE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU TO ANYONE, EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY LAW.  For example, we may disclose personally identifiable information in response to legal process such as a court order or a subpoena. We also may disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency's request, or where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our Terms of Use, or as otherwise required by law.

We secure your information on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.   Personal identifying information transmitted between our computer equipment and your computer equipment is protected by encryption technology.  Notwithstanding data encryption, we do not guarantee that the information transmitted to and from our website or stored on our website or on our computer equipment is not subject to interception or can not be viewed by third parties.
