High Efficiency Clothes Washer (HECW) Rebate - $275 or $300 per washer for IRWD residents
Receive a $275 to $300 rebate when you purchase a high-efficiency clothes washer from an approved list of qualified washing machines with a water factor of 6.0 or less.

Effective July 1, 2008: To be eligible for a rebate, washers purchased on or after July 1, 2008 must have a water factor of 5.0 or less.

List of qualifying High Efficiency Clothes Washers (HECWs).
This list was updated March 18, 2008.

These water-conserving washing machines save you money over time by using only 18 to 25 gallons of water per load, which can save 6,000 or more gallons of water per year. The better water extraction of HECWs also means less drying time and more energy savings, in fact, up to 50 percent less energy use per load. State-of-the-art HECW design also causes less wear and tear on your clothing, with fewer wrinkles.

To apply for IRWD's HECW rebate you must provide the original receipt, dated January 1, 2007 or later, from your washing machine purchase along with a recent water bill and a completed rebate application. To request that your original receipt be returned, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and the receipt will be mailed back to you. Don't wait too long to take advantage of this offer.

High Efficiency Toilet (HET) Rebate - $250 or $265 per toilet for IRWD residents
Receive up to $250 to $265 per fixture when you replace older, water-guzzling toilets with eligible HET models. The HET rebate applies only to toilets that are purchased to replace and upgrade "water-guzzlers," that is, existing toilets installed before 1992 and using more than 1.6 gallons-per flush (gpf). Limit: three toilet rebates per residence.

The make and the model number of each High Efficiency Toilet tank and bowl purchased must be on the current list of eligible HETs in order to qualify for a rebate.

Current list of qualifying HET models.
This list was updated March 1, 2008.

HETs can cut water use down to 1.28 gpf, perform better, and are more durable than traditional ball and flapper models. Most HETs utilize either pressure-assisted flushing or dual-flush technology to achieve greater water savings. Pressure-assisted toilets use compressed air to push water from the tank through the bowl. Dual flush toilets, popular in Europe and Australia, have buttons or levers that allow the user to choose a long or a short flush. Both of these HET technologies use less water than traditional gravity-fed toilets, which rapidly release a volume of water from the tank to the bowl to create a siphon for wastewater removal.

Smart Irrigation System Controller Rebate for IRWD Residential Customers -
Now $60 per Activated Valve or $750 per irrigated acre
IRWD, in partnership with regional water agencies, is providing rebates to encourage residential customers to upgrade their old irrigation system controllers to new weather-based technology. These state-of-the-art irrigation system controllers, called Smart Timers, conserve water, save money and reduce runoff by automating landscape watering based on the weather and water needs of plants.

This program, also called the SmarTimer Rebate Program, provides IRWD customers with a rebate to offset the purchase of an eligible smart irrigation controller. Rebate amounts for single-family residential customers are currently $60 per activated valve, while funding lasts. To receive a rebate packet with full details on how to participate, and you live in a single-family dwelling, call toll free 1-866-846-3725 or click here.

Residential customers who live in or own multi-family dwellings with common area landscaping may qualify for a weather-based "smart" irrigation controller rebate of $750 per irrigated acre. To find out if you qualify, call the Save Water - Save A Buck program at 1-877-728-2282 or click here to view details and to print a rebate application.

In order to participate, residential customers must possess a fully operational automatic irrigation system on a minimum of 1200 square feet of irrigated landscape. The existing controller should not exceed a maximum of 48 valves. (Note: Eligible smart irrigation system controllers can be installed in new construction, pending IRWD approval on a case-by-case basis.)
