The Southern California Chapter of the American Public Works Association named the Irvine Ranch Water District's Water Resources Master Plan as one of its projects of the year for 2000.

Association of California Water Agencies Theodore Roosevelt Environmental Award for the San Diego Creek sediment and nutrient removal program. This program takes polluted urban runoff from the storm drain system and cleans the water through the use of natural vegetation in a series of ponds within the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary.
