THE launch of the DVD version of the Underbelly TV series has gone off with a bang, with many stores running out of copies within hours.
Underbelly Uncut, the DVD version of the Nine Network's gangland drama, went on sale nationwide yesterday, except in Victoria where it is banned because of a court order.
The DVD includes all 13 episodes, as well as scenes not shown on television.
The Virgin Megastore in Sydney said only people who had pre-ordered copies had been able to secure one.
Good to see an Australian production be so popular.

One auction site(not ebay), there are at least 1/2 dozen ads(perhaps more) of copies of the underbelly dvd up for auction, prices ranging from $65 up to $500. I wonder how many people have bought more than 1 copy(purely for financial gains- putting excess copies up on non-ebay auction sites)?

The on-screen ads while the episode is playing, is distracting and bad enough. I can only imagine how bad it must have been to have to have sat through Ad Breaks while watching an episode. That would motivate me to want to buy a dvd set, if I wasnt in victoria and hadnt downloaded it.

Read all 8 commentsI heard channel nine is going to take this real crime format and make a big budget mini series about paedophiles. It will be interesting to see Mr Baldy and co given the some slick and tough image that channel nine gave to the murderous drug dealing scum in Underbelly. After all, there is no reason why we should have any more admiration for the Underbelly scum than we do for paedophiles.
