Student

Day-continuing students currently enrolled at Brigham Young University.

The university gives priority to BYU students in filling needs for part-time employees.

  • Hourly
    • Resident student with 9+ credits.
    • Resident graduate student with 2+ credits.
    • Non-resident student with 12+ credits.
    • Non-resident graduate student 9+ credits.*
  • Contract
    • Resident (2+ credits) or nonresident (9+ credits)* graduate student working as a research or teaching assistant.

* International students, hourly or contract, may not work more than 20 hours per week.

Non-Student

Full-time and part-time employees whose main focus is work not study.

  • Temp/On-Call
    • Temporary - Individuals hired to meet temporary or on-call needs if students are not available.
      • Work for 6 months or 910 hours, whichever comes first.
      • Employee may not work thereafter as a temp or on-call for that department.
    • On-Call - Request approval through Employment Services.
      • Work on seasonal or occasional basis and limited to 910 hours per calendar year.
  • Approved Part-Time (Require Posting)
    • Category 1 - Approved part-time positions if students are not able to meet the needs of the department.
      • Average 17.5 hours per week and limited to 910 hours per calendar year.
    • Category 2 - New positions require approval of the Human Resources Committee.
      • Average 30 hours per week and limited to 1560 hours per calendar year.
  • Regular Full-Time (Require Posting) — Regular positions included in the FTE count approved by the Board of Trustees.
    • Staff
      • Positions “non-exempt” from the requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
    • Administrative
      • Positions “exempt” from the requirements of the FLSA.
