Plant and Wildlife Sciences

Disciplines in the Department of Plant and Wildlife Sciences focus on three of the great dilemmas facing mankind in the twenty-first century: harnessing biological technology to meet the needs of an expanding human population in the developing world; assessing and minimizing the impact of human activities on an increasingly vulnerable environment; and adapting urban landscaping to meet increasing water, space, and other resource limitations while enhancing the aesthetic quality of urban environments.

BYU professor elected president of American College of Nutrition

Kay Franz, an associate professor of nutrition in the Brigham Young University Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science, has been elected president of the American College of Nutrition.

BYU adds ‘zing’ to new carbonated yogurt product in stores nationwide

A BYU professor invented the "zing" in General Mills' new carbonated yogurt product, now available in stores all over the country. Fizzix(TM), an extension of Yoplait's Go-GURT brand that comes in a tube, adds a tangy tingle to the traditional fruity flavor of yogurt that will "fizzify" the tongues of the 8- to 12-year-olds the company is targeting.
