US, British and Israeli embassies evacuated after powder threat

DOZENS of people were evacuated from the Israeli and US embassies and British High Commission in Canberra after suspicious packages were discovered.
Three packages were found within hours at the buildings today, forcing lockdowns of the areas.
Canberra's chemical experts, HAZMAT, were called to decontaminate the sites.
A package containing white powder was first reported at the Israeli embassy at 11.45am and later dismissed as a hoax.
A sample of the substance was tested by experts at a laboratory and was cleared.
An hour after the Israeli report, a suspicious item was also reported at the US embassy.
ACT police were also recently notified about a package at the British High Commission.
Israeli Diplomat Dror Schapira said he and his colleagues were evacuated from the Yarralumla office about 11.45am.
"We received a suspicious package and now the police are investigating that," Mr Schapira said.
Workers have now been given clearance to return.
But staff from the US embassy and British High Commission will be blocked from their workplace until forensic experts check the packages.

George! its absolutely true that its a different world we live in now. Unfortuntely, its even a very different world for people in Afghanistan and Iraq now as well..And i believe there is an equal reaction to every action that takes place .. true?

Yeah good one George. Wow. The Mulsim terrorists are coming to get us? How pathetic. The only people terrorizing the world at the moment is the US and their allies currently pushing for the New World Order. Wasn't the anthrax scare that occurred in the US a number of years ago traced back to a US military base. then conveniently denied and forgotten about? Regarding 9/11, the laws of physics tend not to lie whereas people do. Nevermind the coincidental 'terror' drills that happened to be conducted by authorities on the morning of 7/7 and 9/11, nor the UK SAS soldiers and later US marines that were caught in Iraq dressed as Arabs with explosives in their car, beacause you are probably better off knowing none of this. Believe me.....

But isn't all just scaremongering from the Libs and conservatives? The sooner people realise that radical Islamists are a real threat here in Australia, the sooner we cna take preventative action and find the culprits before a London-style bombing happens here, Of course, we wshould live our lives normally so no argument there but we need our authorities to have the powe to take imemdiate action rather than appeasing the bleeding hearts and civbil libertarians. Mistakes will be made but better safe than sorry. It's a different world we live in now.
