Cougar House
The BYU Athletic Department and the Utah Home Builders Association have formed a partnership through which one Cougar House is built a year. Proceeds from the sale of each house are donated to the Athletic Department for athletic scholarships and other athletic department needs.
The program began in 2001, and seven homes have been built in different locations throughout Utah County (Provo, Springville, Mapleton, Lehi and Eagle Mountain). In the first seven years of the program, over one million dollars has been raised to benefit the BYU Athletic Department, helping it to remain self-sufficient as well as provide for student scholarships.
Cougar House proceeds have fully endowed two full-ride athletic scholarships. In 2004, the Cougar House provided scholarships for every member of BYU's starting offensive line and the proceeds from Cougar House 2005 paid for the new white football helmets the team used that year.
